Living with Intention

For a couple of days I have been posting messages on FaceBook about living our lives with intention.  It seems like a simple thing to implement yet many times it eludes us because we forget that living with intention gives our day purpose and creates what it is we want to see happen in our lives.

The alternative to living with intention is to live our lives in a way that we don't intend to live.  What is likely going to happen when we don't live with some intention is that things happen to us that we did not intend and we can end up unhappy wondering why.  This is reason enough in my opinion to live life with intention and purpose.  To decide each day what our intentions are and to begin each day working towards those loving, honest, rewarding and purposeful acts.  Living with intention means that we begin each day with a list of the ways we are going to manifest our very highest level of self-love and compassion.

There are many types of intentions.  The intention to connect, the intention to be joyful and in gratitude, the intention to communicate our needs, the intention to eat healthy foods, the intention to smile and share happiness, the intention to serve others or the intention to dance until we feel it in our hearts.

Whatever our intentions are they should be aligned with something we know we need to work on in our lives.  If we have a difficult time asking questions then our intention could be to be fearless and ask many questions.  If our intention is to be happy then we may phrase it as: " I have the intention to feel joy all day long " and we must proceed to find the joy in everything and everyone around us throughout the day.  The very first thing to do is to write down our intentions because in this way we will create that intention.  Once we write it then we must walk the walk of that intention finding ways to practice it and to make that intention happen for us.

Intentions are like dreams.  We all have intentions and we all have dreams.  We all have things on our life list that we want to create and that we would like to see happen to us.  Our intentions are like dreams in that we have struggled with not having our dream come true for years  and years.  When we become ready to make our dream happen then we are inside our intention and the dream no longer looks so impossible to us.  Intention brings our dreams into focus and to a place in our head that makes it more like a reality than a dream.

Living with intent is living in the idea that we don't always fully experience life unless we do so with intention and unless we intend to.  Intention really does mean that we not be afraid to ask ourselves what we want and decide that we are going to go after it.  It is living purposefully and asking for what we deserve and want.

What is it that you intend to do?  Ask yourself this question each day and when you have the answer begin to live the day in a way that you intend to and in a way that you sense is intended for you.
