What You Don't Know Will Hurt You

There is perhaps a little place in me that wants to believe in this American saying of: "What you don't know can't hurt you".  Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but what you don't know, well, it could possibly hurt you.  Allow me to share why. I believe that some of those things you don't know can hurt you, like:  Someone or an entity of some kind could be waiting to introduce chaos. The things that you are ignoring are not just going to go away. Lack of knowledge of those things we need to know can end up costing us. A lack of spiritual understanding can be damming. We have often times heard people say that they should of listened to their Intuition.  In some cases people have been injured because they failed to hear that inner voice.  For many of us danger comes in the form of a person or entity that we have not noticed.  Our intuition warns us when someone or something may be posing a danger or concern we need to address.  Although we ca

10 Things Women Want In Men

While working with the majority of women since 2008 I have often been told what they want in a man.   Here's what they shared:  Women want:  1. A manly man: masculine man  2. A man who is financially independent  3. A man who is romantic  4. A man that has a good sense of humor  5. A man who is a gentleman with good manners  6. A man who dresses well and is well groomed  7. A man who is stable and knows what he wants  8. A man who is emotionally present and can communicate well  9. A man who is social and likes various events  10. A man who is both intelligent and life smart  Enough said.  Coach Elliott

Feel Better Now

There are many reasons to feel badly, some of which are quite legitimate and some not so much.  It is my contention that most of the time we bring darkness and light depending on our state of mind.  For this reason it is good to have some life tools that will help turn things around quickly and efficiently.  Here are some ways to do that: 1. Set the intention 2. Stop and breathe 3. Have a go to mantra or phrase  4. Release it  When you set your intention you give yourself permission to decide how the day will unfold.  When you set an intention you are purposeful.  An intention like, 'I will interact with courage and love today" is a message to our inner self of what we want to happen versus what we don't.  The more we focus on a postive intention the more likely it will be that we will experience an outcome we will be happier experiencing.  Once your intention is set remind yourself by repeating your intention and your mantra.  When things seem to look bleak

Take Time To Breathe

There are so many of us who are stuck in what I refer to as running mode, running constantly from one thing to the next.  Soon we are not thinking about what we are doing but rather automatically doing it.  Eventually our body and often times our mind react to the constant running.  It is that human response to a spiritual issue that asks us to consider taking the time to breathe. Here are some useful tips: Time to chill: Carve out time each day to just do nothing.  Time in a comfy chair, put your feet up and listen to some soft music.  Sit on your swing chair on your deck and read a book or listen to the birds chirping.  Take a walk in the park, hug a tree in gratitude and lay under it for an hour.  Taking the time to chill and breathe rejuvenates the spirit.  Our body and mind needs some time to just be still and breathe. A breathing exercise: I am an advocate for this breathing exercise.  Inhale through your nose for a count of ten, hold it in for a count of four, then exhal

How To Be Happier Now

It may seem like your experiences in life have control of your joy.  When you expeience good things you are happy and when you don't, not so much.  Wouldn't it be nice if you could be happy more often and that things would not alter your joy as much as it has in the past?  Well, here are some ways to be happier more often: 1. Set the intention:  We forget how powerful our mind is and that in fact we could set the intention to experience more joy.  The message we send to our brain each morning when we awaken is of vital importance.  This is when can set our intention and put it into words that our brain will accept. Here's an example: "I intend to communicate with joy and love in my heart" As easy as this may sound, or perhaps to some unbelievable, deciding how we intend to do things and how we will view things is a powerful tool. 2. Intervene the beast:  When something comes your way that distracts you from your happiness have a plan of intervention. The w

5 Ways to De-clutter Your Home

We have all been there with our hand on our mouth and wondering how we accumulated so much stuff.  The more we collect, keep and store the more overwhelmed we get.  It may feel hopeless but let me share some tips on how to get rid of the things you are likely never going to use or sell.  Not to worry, I am not going to recommend a garage sale because they are usually a huge waste of time. Here are five tips to help clean up the overage in your house: 1. Clothes in your closet: Every spring look in your closet at what you have not worn for a season or a year and throw it in a box to donate those items: shoes included.  The fact is that if you did not wear that item another season then you are likely not going to wear it at all. 2. The basement or storage area: I will not soon forget that I lived nine years in a condo and kept putting things in storage.  When I went to move out I looked in this storage unit and it was full to the top.  When I started to look through it I ended up

Make Your Home Beautiful Now

I think that ones home is a sacred space and that no matter how much money one has, anyone can make their space beautiful, comfortable and one that expresses their spirit.  When one approaches decor for a minimal amount you can create a space that is clean lined and very affordable. Here's how you can make your space beautiful: Go minimal: If you are concerned about money there are ways you can approach decorating your home with minimal things.  A mattress and box spring on a metal frame can work with a bed skirt and some basic white bedding or sheet with a solid colored blanket.  Add a basic floor lamp or a table lamp on a vintage table or dresser that is painted by you.  It looks modern and is very affordable. Think recycle / thrift shop: Go to the thrift shops in your area to find used items.  You can find anything from sofas, tables and headboards, vases and accessories for bargain prices.  Remember you can always paint some items in basic white, black or even pink if y

How To Be More Beautiful

I won't lie to you.  I have looked dead at my own face in the mirror and thought, let's just say not so affirming thoughts.  I have also looked at my reflection and thought: "my God you are stunning".  I know that on the days that I think myself beautiful it has so little to do with my exterior.  It has of course everything to do with what I am feeling inside.  I believe the most delightful part about seeing that beauty is that it seems to catch us off guard.  Yet what really happens is that we are aligned with spirit and we are good with ourself.  It is in that moment when we radiate beautifully because it comes from inside. So how can you be more beautiful?  Here's what comes up for me: Live Beautiful:  Surround yourself in beauty, a home that you love dearly.  From the smallest thing to the most simple of things you buy for your home, make them mean something good. Think Beautiful:  Decide to think beautiful thoughts about yourself, others around you an

Do You Know Why You Feel Stuck?

I believe that many of us are unhappy because we feel stuck.  Sometimes we call that being stagnant. Whether it is in relationships where we feel stuck, a job or our spiritual journey being stuck means feeling as though we are not where we'd like to be.  Here are some ways to get un-stuck: Have an intention: The most basic way to move your energy is to hold an intention.  Every day that you get up is a chance to live your life the way you want to live it and most of all live it fully.  Take the time to decide what your intention is for the day and remind yourself of it as often as needed. Example: I hold the intention to be joyful and grateful all day long. Listen to your intuition: We often get stuck because we are not listening  to our intuitive heart.  We have all heard this before: "I should of listened to my. Intuition".  Intuition has literally saved people's lives and while many of us don't understand it, intuition is that inner voice that speaks to

A Beautiufl Home For Less

Although some people have all the money in the world to spend on furnishing their home most of us are likely on a budget and as we know having money does not give one good taste.  On the up side is that we don't have to be rich to have a home that looks beautiful and that invites others to come in and chill with us.  This blog is going to help you to create a home that rocks: When you are decorating it is important to know where to find things.  Otherwise you may be wasting a lot of time and I believe that "time is money".  Here are some stores and what you can find in them: Stores: My list of discount stores that I love and what you can find there include:  Ikea : Dressers, closet organizers, tables, chairs, kitchen ware, outdoor lights and furniture, cool folding chairs, lighting and rugs Home Goods: sofas, sofa chairs, ottomans, cocktail and occassional tables, lamps, throws, home accessories, bath towels, sheets, frames, kitchen stuff, area rugs and small go

Will You Not Marry Me

I guess some might say that I am a bit cynical.  Like many humans I probably have a little of that along with a little of this.  I have been married and in a long term relationship both for over ten years.  What I learned is as they say in the master card commercials, "priceless".  The nice part is that I am willing to share it with you. LOL, LMAO, OMG and WTF I will preface everything I share from this juncture on with a clause that says what I love about the AAA programs: "take what you like and leave the rest.  I will add that just because I am a "life coach" it does not mean I don't have odd thoughts or at least ones that others might find odd. This is what I think about marriage versus not being married.  It makes little difference if any with the exception that when you are married the IRS will come after your ass if your spouse who is now M.I.A owes Uncle Sam money.  I think just based on that alone I would think twice about getting married.  T

Intend It and It Shall Be

Intention is everything is what I tell myself repeatedly on some days when I tend to forget more than once.  We are the busy society and we seem to be so proud of it that when we are asked how we are doing we often say: "I've been very busy".  I rarely take that response seriously and what I have observed is that people who keep themselves busy do this to avoid their feelings.  Instead of living with intention they are ruled by schedules starting with their 9-5 jobs.  Living with intention is living with purpose and it is about feeling the feelings and letting go of the fear that keeps us in avoidance. What is intention you might ask?:  Intention is when we decide that we are going to live a joyful, loving, self-compassionate life.  Intention means that we set the mood we will live in day by day.  Intention is empowering and it is when we send the message to our brain that we chose to be in a place of love. So what is the first step?:  The first step to living a lif

Designing A Beautiful Home

It seems silly to be writing about this subject if you have ever been to my home.  The truth is that I have made a beautiful home by listening to my inner voice that has always helped me to create a beautiful space.  Over time what I have learned about design is that nothing is written in stone and that now more than ever one can mix it all up and that is exactly what I do.  I love modern pieces mixed with contemporary pieces next to traditional ones.  My home is a mixture of things that I love and that are in harmony and I feel comfortable.  I wanted a space that above all meant something to me and when I get up in the morning I can look up, down, left or right and I see things that invite me to sit down and chill and accessories that elicit a good feeling inside of me.  From the decorative pillows embroidered with the words "dream" and "love" to the Noguchi cocktail table which the original is displayed at the Chicago Art Institute.  But I digress.  So let me begi
