Ageless Beauty

We have all heard these two words together: "ageless beauty".  What this means is that we can look beautiful at any age and although the messages all around us promote youth there is not one good reason why we should subscribe to it.  In the book "Advanced Style" a photographer features women who are of the average age of sixty and many of them are older.  They are all discovered on the streets of NYC because of the way they were dressed, each of them in their own artistic and advanced style and some of them wearing layers of jewelry adorning their person.  It all started with a man who wanted to honor his grandmother's style and to show the world that beautiful does not have an age limit.

How is it then that we can be beautiful at any age?   Here's what I think:

Flaunt Your Style:
Be willing to bypass the notion that after a certain age you must downplay your style.  In fact, think about the opposite which is to flaunt your style.  Go big and go bold or go home.  Use all the colors you love and accent your clothing with accessories that you love.  Don't hold anything back. Not everything you wear has to be brand names or brand new.  Consider going to thrift shops where many times women donate beautiful and gently used clothing.  Understand that in style there are no limits and that there are as many patterns and interesting fabrics as there are people.  Be as boisterous as you like and wear what speaks to you not allowing yourself to be concerned about what others may think of you.  Show off every aspect of who you are and let your style be your very own.

Wear Your Hair:
Hair is an important part of fashion and looking smart.  Find the cut that looks good on you and the cut that you feel expresses your inner diva.  Then pick the color that you will dye your hair and let that color be as subtle or as bold as you like.  Remember that wigs can provide you with some variation and that there are wigs that are made of real hair.  Wearing a wig may seem like a bold move and it is, but making those bold decisions is what makes you who you are.  Hair has a huge impact visually and aesthetically so choose a style and color that you feel snaps.  Like your dressing style, don't hold back.  Lastly let your hair style match your fashion style and pick a look that is versatile.

Love Your Skin:
One of the best things to do with our skin is to keep it moist.  Find a product that is a good balance for you and get the various components of the product: the cleanser, the mask, the toner, and the moisturizers.  Make a routine of doing facials and of taking care of your skin including using body scrubs on your entire body to get rid of the dead skin.  There are many products out there and you have a lot of choices so shop around and find the best one for you.

Paint Your Face:
Some would say, less is more when it comes to makeup.  I think that overdoing makeup at any age looks a bit fake and that would not be the goal.  Even then every woman can decide how much or how little to use makeup depending on the occasion day or night.  Makeup is a way to express your art but more importantly it is a way to adorn and amplify your features.  The right eye shadow will bring out your eye color and make your eyes look bigger or longer.  Makeup is magical and it does things for your face that beautify but that also enhance your style and your look.  It is basically art for the face.  The right use of it can bring a woman from pretty to stunning.

Strut Your Stuff:
The way that a woman carries herself is everything.  When a woman walks into a room like she owns it with a smile on her face and a breeze behind her she is strutting and she is doing so with confidence.  Being unafraid to show it off and to be who you are, no apologies, is the most important aspect of ageless beauty.  Hitting the most gracious posture and walking as if on clouds brings positive attention to any woman at any age.  When a woman is prepared and has done all that she can to love herself she is beautiful.  When a woman walks into a room with the air of the goddess she lights that room up, not just because she is beautiful but because her inner beauty exceeds that of the outside.
