New Year Evolution Part 5: Do We Deserve It?

I once shared with a client that she deserved to be happy and her response was, "I don't deserve anything".  A day or two later I thought about what she said and these words came to me: "We don't deserve anything, we are gifted with everything".  As we look at evolving in the new year I want to invite you all to think about this shift in thinking that says that we don't necessarily deserve things but that we are honored to have what we have, those things we are gifted with.

I think what she may have meant is that we have this false sense of entitlement and that we think we deserve everything and that this mind set is not one that says we are grateful or that we see the gifts we have received.  Sometimes it is a good idea to look at what we have and to simply have gratitude around it rather than to think so much about what we don't have or what we think we deserve to have.  That thinking that says we deserve it is an ego based approach to life versus a spiritual and loving approach.

As you begin your evolution think about what you are grateful to have in your life and consider the thought that what you have are gifts and that you're privileged to have it.  Take a little bit of a different outlook regarding what you deserve, one that is humble and that acknowledges that whatever you have and whatever you receive is a lovely gift from spirit. In your mind thank source for all the abundance and love that you have experienced.

It is normal to want to be loved, respected and witnessed but if we expect to be loved and witnessed we may be sadly disappointed.  This new thinking asks us to look at this idea that we deserve things and to replace that with gratitude.  In order to evolve in life we might consider this mindset and approach to life.  I will say it one more time in case you didn't hear me.  We don't deserve anything, we are gifted with everything.
