Be A Child: Let It Flow
Today my daughter brought the kids over to stay with me for the remainder of the week and the upcoming weekend. I love being a grandpa and being loved by these two love bugs that love without conditions. I feel so fortunate to be that person who gets all that nurturing and attention from two loving little girls who have so much love to give. I want to cherish every moment of this time with them watching "My Litttle Pony" and chatting with my eldest granddaughter about school and friends now that she is 13. I find myself playing with Legos and the match card game, enjoying being present with them and accessing my child like characteristics. It is so much fun just lettiing go of the stresses of life and getting lost in their simple and beautiful world.
Children have a way of bringing us to the core of our joy and innocence. They are there to remind us all that we can enjoy the little things in a big way. They bring us to a place of understanding our child like spirit and how to have fun with abandon. They do this by being their natural selves and without even making any effort. We learn it from them over again as we return to the child like state and free ourselves of the difficulties and stress of the everyday things like our job and other responsibilities. We get permission to let go of the bill paying, hard working, house monitoring stage and just be.
Today I am learning to just be present in the fun and enjoyable moments of life with girls who know how to do that naturally. I am a child without knowing it and without thinking too much. I get to be a little boy and play and access the happiness that was mine when I was a little boy. As I am willing to become like a child I get the benefits of the enjoyment of being like a child. I laugh at the things they do and I forget all of my own worries. I take the focus off of the struggles of life and place it on kicking back and not worrying about anything. Life is so enjoyable when we open the door to our inner child. Life is so much more when we live in the present moment as if we were that little boy or girl again.
Take your toys out, buy some toys and be a child for the day. Do nothing that is of responsibility unless absolutely Neccessary. Lift yourself up by doing things that are fun and open ended. Play with your children or go to the park and swing on the big kid's swings. Take a journey into the world of the child. Take a trip back in time to where you were not concerned with how much money you made or having to get up early every day. Go back to a place of sheer abandonment. Be a child and participate in your very own special child like ways. For one day fill your heart up with all the colors of crayons you love and the Legos and games that take you back to your freest spirit. Be a child again.
