How You Know a Good Person

The last blog I wrote was about assholes and I thought about how I might redeem myself and demonstrate that I believe there are good people out there.  There are plenty of good people in the world and when we meet them we know it.  IT is the same as knowing we are in the company of the wrong person, except we know we are in the presence of the right person.  Someone who is a good person and someone who has a heart.  Just like the opposite effect when we meet the wrong people, the right person has a light that shines and we can tell from the start that they are of good.  In the reality of spiritual principles everyone is a worthy person and I would like to be the first to say that looking for the good in others is better than looking for the bad in others.  Looking for the good in mankind will bring that good into our lives.  We attract what we think of others.  I know because I have been on both ends of the spectrum.  Today I can see the light in others and as a result it seems like more and more people around me turn out to be beautifully affirming of that light and of that good.  There are characteristics of good people like:

People who are good are generous with their time and with their possessions

People who are good demonstrate it by being of service and being reciprocal

People who are good care about how they present themselves and dress nicely for you and the occasion

People who are good are romantic and show it by doing things like writing you poetry or giving your flowers just because

People who are good folks stand up for you and defend your honor when others attempt to bring your down

People who are good take care of you in ways that are special and kind, especially when you are ill

People who are good love without expecting anything back

People who are good compromise with you and do things you like to do, not simply expect you to do what they want to do all the time

People who are good people care about the state of the world and contribute their time freely

People who are good are also humble

So there you have it.  My list of the things to look for in a good person as a partner or as a friend.  People who are good don't need to brag or convince others that they are good.  They understand that love is about giving and accepting.  They live in true balance.  They bring light where they go and admit their flaws, working on healing what needs to be healed and doing their best to show up and be present in love and life.  We must always know that being in good company is more about being good company.  It is about being the things we expect of others.

Your Skirt Is Over Your Head

I am uncertain as to how many of my readers know what I mean about putting your skirt over your head.  All I know is that my sister once said it and I think I heard it in a movie once.  I do know that in the movie "Mermaids" Cher who played the mom had some great lines about being a woman and just having a good time with life.  In one of those what should be famous lines Cher's daughter played by Winnona Ryder says: "Don't you think yoiiu are too old for that dress?"to which Cher responds with: "Don't be silly Charlotte, a woman is never too old".  In another part there is a stunning young man waiting on their porch to welcome them to the country area where they moved and upon setting eyes on him Winnona Ryder who is Charlotte is mezmerized by him.  Cher suddenly turns around and says: "too bad your hell bent on becoming a nun".  To say that Cher truly pulls the dress over her head is really minimizing her role in this movie that I wo...
