Are You In A Funk?
I am not sure if everyone out there knows what being in a funk is but I do know that we have all had our moments when things seem not to have a solution or we feel down but cannot pin point why. Being in a funk is not fun, but on the up side it is a way for our mind to tell us, something needs to be looked into. When we are in a place of dreary thoughts we are being asked by spirit source to look more closely at our life and how we are living it. It is time to check in and ask: What do I need right now? Or What is my spirit asking of me?
Being in a state of confusion of any sort requires us to silence everything and do what it is that brings us peace. Prayer, meditation, reverent silence or rest are some of the things that our self-nurturing part of us is asking us to do. By quieting all the outer distractions and the negative inner messages and meditating or praying we can re-center ourselves and clear the cobwebs in our mind and come to terms with what is inside of us that is asking to be loved and asking to be acknowledged. Taking a few minutes to shut everything down can be the very best thing we can do for ourselves.
We are going to experience funks. We will have times when we feel funky and not aligned with our happiness or our heart. We are humans having experiences that are going to feel good and some that will feel uncomfortable. We will feel the entire array of feelings because we react to our environment and to others. What people say, what we experience along the path of the day and what we think about all have an influence on how we feel. The trick is to stop, drop and roll so that we don't ignite on fire and the feelings don't take over and run a muck inside our body and mind.
Being in a funk is normal. Staying in a funk for long periods of time is not. The longer we allow the funky feelings to dominate our thoughts and actions the deeper into the darkness we will go. By finding ways to jump out of the dark space we find ourselves in we minimize the long term damage that staying in a bad state of mind will ultimately cause. Beating ourselves up for feeling down is not going to help and in fact will hinder us. Try to not judge yourself or say "I told you so" to yourself. Keep in mind that what you intend and propose in your life is what you will get more of. Coming down on yourself is not the answer.
Are you in a funk? Do you feel confused? Are you unaware of what it is that is making you feel so dark inside or sad or angry? Take the time to honor yourself. Talk to yourself in loving words and trust that this will pass just as it has in the past. Do one thing that is sacred and a feels right in the moment in your soul. Access the beauty inside of you by taking the time to be completely silent. If you feel safe go for a walk outside and get some fresh air. Remember that you can usually make a decision to stay inside the box or to get out using your inner guide that tells you what is next for you. Trust in God. Trust in others who love you and trust in yourself. You have all the tools you need to access the light.
