Authentic Power: Part 2
I was reminded today that only one percent of the people in the United States control most of the money. This is that one percent we know as rich people, otherwise known as "the people in power", all be it a false sense of power and at the same time there is much credence to this fact. People in the US that are rich do have a substantial amount of power, but that is not what matters to me. What matters is that true power only comes from empowerment and that money does not buy you love, security or protection from a terminal illness. Money however does buy a certain kind of power in America so that we cannot dismiss people who are rich, not that they are all wielding their wands of power or that the rich are all bad people. I for one do not want to create a dislike for any group of people even if one comes to mind as being an asshole who thinks his money can buy him the election. The scariest part of it is that it might.
Our presidents are given a lot of power yet some as we all know were powerless and were undeniably not empowered but rather disempowered in their personal lives. One such president although deeply loved was Kennedy. That which is referred to as the Kennedy curse is likely to be a real life curse. Here was a family of prestige and money who experienced the least likely things in their life and all the fame in the world could not protect them from their own energy, it followed them wherever they went. After many years of taking advantage of Marilyn Monroe for example, Kennedy was assassinated and then his brother was killed as well. The son died in a plane crash and one of the cousins was accused of rape. Money cannot buy empowerment and at the same time it can give one a sense of being invincible. In reality power and empowerment are two different things. Empowerment is genuine while power is only temporary and is usually a form of power that is not as long lasting.
You are empowered if you know who you really are and you live an honest life with others where you tell the truth about your feelings and actions, to yourself and to others. You are empowered if you live in a place of gratitude and thank others and Source for what you do have, not wasting too much time complaining about what you don't have. You are empowered when you have a belief in something greater than yourself and you understand that you are not the person who the earth evolves for. Unlike people with power that have money, empowerment has nothing to do with money. Empowering yourself is about standing tall and not allowing money to control you or the Mercedes car to define you.
I remember when I was making a six digit income. I felt powerful and life was going well so I thought. I shorty after that met someone who eventually married me and then I felt like all was truly perfect. He eventually manifested for me a fake form of power that had only to do with money and presented a front that only looked empowering until one day all the truths started to spill out in front of him. The controlling mother, the gay father, the racist uncle and the bigot brother along with the atheist younger brother. When the truth came out I was devastated. Who did I marry and what did I marry into? OMG. Then after many years of deliberately staying in a relationship with someone I disliked I was diagnosed with cancer. It was exactly what needed to happen to me so that I would understand that power was much different from being empowered and that my life was not only not authentic it was based on meaningless things that did not matter and that were not empowering at any level. This was when I realized once again that money was not power and that living for any other person but me was powerless. Today being single for almost two years I finally have gotten my power back by becoming empowered and believing in myself and that I matter. No money in the world is worth us not understanding how important it is to take our life power back and become empowered. Take your life back and you can also become empowered. Being authentically empowered means that you release the notion that you are powerful and that you take responsibility for yourself, like I did.
The Beetles said it: "I don't care too much for money, cause money can't buy me love". We keep being reminded by singers and poets that money is not the end all and that it does not buy you joy or love. We are reminded of it because we obviously need to be. Like Oprah I won't apologize for enjoying my beautiful homes. I love living in a way that is pretty, light, peaceful and organized. I love being in my home and enjoying it all by myself even more now than ever. I love the peace and quiet and the sounds of the birds singing. I love the formation of the geese as they fly south. It nurtures me and it is what empowers me. (to be continued): E. Maximo Collazo
