Do You Believe You Can Do This?
I understand that not everyone believes in the power of the mind. I also understand that some of you reading this blog will think this concept of believing you can one that is most believable. Yet we have heard from many great leaders and inventors that what made them great was the mere fact that they believed it. They believed over any difficult situation that they would overcome it and that they would come out a winner.
Those of us who are fortunate are raised by parents who teach us how to believe and to be confident about our skills. Many boys and girls have not had the good fortune to have parents who believe in them. In fact there are those parents who believe that the reality for their children is that they are doomed and that to believe in anything that was not looking right at them was silly. Believing for any child is really more about being nurtured and feel as though they are worthy.
For a time in my life the ideas that I shared about believing then manifesting what I believed was ignored and even made fun of. If I felt and shared what I believed and that this would happen if I believed strongly enough this was something that others took in their hand and used against me. After all how could I be so silly as to think that I would be someone some day and that the mere faith in myself would get me there. Who the hell did I think I was?
Faith is a premise by which many a spiritual leader has based his or her sermons. Many wise men and women have shared the idea that if you have a little faith you can overcome anything and that you will be able to do anything. As much as some of us believe in this idea that we are what we think and what we have faith in, there are still many, if not most, who are not believers.
Some of us think that every thing that happens to us is destined and then the other extreme is that we control the outcome. In neither case is faith and belief the main idea. In both we are not in power but rather at the hands of whatever happens. The truth is that we can and do have control of our destiny. The truth is that we can think our way to the highest level of living as long as this belief comes with some commitments and actions.
I believe that I am alive because I have willed it for myself. I understand more than ever that I am my own best friend and that to get to where I need to be I only need to believe. Believing with all my heart is what is going to take me to the next highest level of life. Whether you believe or not does not matter to anyone else. It only matters for you. Believe in something and you will find that as long as you are willing that belief will lift you up to where you should and want to be.
