Finding Your Pain Center
Pain seems to be a part of life and is at the center of who we are as human beings. Where we feel our pain is in the centeer of our body, most times in our heart. When we feel pain we also feel loss and when we feel loss something tells us that we need to look for something we often times cannot find, whether it is the cause of our pain or discovering how to rid ourselves of it. My physical pain is something I experience every day. My spiritual pain is often times at the core of it and where I most become affected. I imagine that I not the only one yet it does not feel any better just to know. No matter what we feel it is crucial to know the source of the pain and how to release it. When we are in the mix as it is often referred to we think that we may never ever recover from the horrible feeling of loss or from the bad feeling of being treated poorly. Yet if we wait long enough we will recover and we will spring back. Just a small amount of hope will bring us back to where we can keep going and keep living with some amount of joy.
It is not enough to know that pain is a part of life when it feels like we experience more pain than relief of it. Every day is a day to be in gratitude about and every day is a chance to begin again. We have to believe that when we are in so much anxiety, resentment, regret and shame. We must know that something is going to break the chain or the repeated anguish we may feel day after day. It is a full time job and the more time we put into healing our pain and understanding it the better. Some of us need to clearly work at being happy every day. Fighting the feeling and rising above it takes a lot of effort. Life is a work in progress as are each of us. We must be willing to do that work. It depends on who we are and how we think whether that work is spiritual in nature but my contention is that this is exactly where we need to look first. After that every other aspect of who we are: emotional, creative and physical is to be examined, coming up with the ways in which each aspect of us needs to be fed.
As some of you already know I had one sister of two commit suicide. IN the beginning I did not understand why yet today I have a variety of beliefs. My sister was unhappy but most of all she was injured by an abusive husband who treated her horrifically. Eventually her self worth became so low that she did not believe herself worthy of living, so she went to a hotel and shot herself in the head with a gun she found in her bosses office desk drawer. This incident in my life was one of the most tragic and sad ones of my life. I may never forget it yet to my surprise I have overcome it and still have beautiful feelings for my sister along with wonderful memories. I re framed that incident in my life and decided that I would rather think of Dora Ivette Collazo as the generous, beautiful, loving and kind person she was. As in the song about the artist Vincent Vangoh "this world was never meant for someone as beautiful as you". When I hear that song I think of my beautiful sister and I cry what I need to cry and then I move into gratitude.
Where is your pain? What is causing it? Are you knowing that pain is natural and that you will soon overcome it and come back to your center of love. Just like our pain center there is a love center and now it is time to find it. It is not hidden under a large rock but rather at the center of your heart where you feel the pain. Heal your pain by doing what you know needs to be done. By letting go of what you are being asked to release. By finding the self courage to love you more. By standing up and knowing that you deserve to be happy.
