Tips to Being Gorgeous at Any Age

I have been in this body for 61 years and although I am a male I think a lot like a woman and have been around women all my life who are strong minded and believe in beautification.  My grandmother was a seamstress and my grandfather was a carpenter.  Every beautiful thing in my home was either created by my grandmother or my grandfather.  We lived a life that looked rich but was really a middle class situation.  We had a five bedroom home with an immaculate basement where we could play when we wanted to ride our bike inside in the winter and when there was a strong storm outdoors.  But I digress.  The fact is that I learned about beauty and beautiful things at a very early age.  I learned to distinguish between silk and tropical weight wool early in my life and saw my grandmother sew up a dress for church in a day that looked like an Ungaro dress today in gray with beading and twisted ribbon.  Beauty did not seem to me to have an age because my grandmother put on lipstick almost every day and my mother presented herself in dresses of silk chiffon.

Needless to say today I am of the belief that you can look beautiful at any age and that there are some basic things we can do to look beautiful all the time and anytime:

1. Dress it up:
Dress yourself up in the very best and most elegant things you can afford.  Make it a point to look good when you go out in public and even if you are at home if you would like to.  A pair of nice pajamas, even silk ones will beautify you.  Dress in ways that you love and dress in colors that resonate for you and look great against your skin.  If you feel sad, dress it up.  If you feel ugly, dress it up.  If you feel tired dress it up.  If you feel like there is a need for you to appear your very best, dress it up.  Dressing it up will help you to stay beautiful and feel beautiful.  It may just be a part of it but it is an important part of feeling your inner beauty and expressing it on the outside.

2. Wear makeup:
Makeup is made to beautify a woman or person.  Even just some lipstick goes a long way or a bit of rouge makes your cheeks rosy and makes you look healthy and pretty.  Some women wear too much make up and in the wrong colorations.  Go to a department store and let someone who knows how to do makeup for you do your makeup and find the colors that suit you and enhance you.  A lot of make up is not necessary.  In fact the less you wear the better.  It is a matter of finding out how much you need and where you are going.  Everyday makeup is different from night time going out makeup.  Learn what makes you look natural and lovely without overdoing it.

3. Believe It:
You must believe you are beautiful outside and that it comes from the inside.  Beauty is as deep and profound as what you believe it to be.  Learn to love every part of who you are and you will depict it on the outside.  Women who are confident seem to look better as do men who are confident and this is the most important part of being beautiful.

4. Don't Say Old:
Never use the word old.  We are seasoned and as we age we look more and more beautiful.  We must believe that and not buy into this notion that we are too old to look good.  We can look good at any age.  "Getting old is inevitble but aging is optional".  Don't forget that.

5. Exercise:
Staying in shape in body and in mind is essential to feeling and looking great.  Keep moving whether it is walking, boating, biking or running.  Don't freeze up.  Don't get stagnant.  You will always look great if you move the body and keep it moving at a pace that is good for you and feels good to you.  You don't have to run a marathon but rather do things that are fun for you like racket ball or other types of sports that you may enjoy and that keep your interest and your healthy state.

6. Think Young:
Never say you are old.  Think of yourself as young and fresh and do things and dress the part.  Thinking young will slow the aging process hands down.  I believe this to be true because I have been thinking young for  long long long time.  I refuse to think myself as old whether my body creaks or not.  I am a young heart and a young mind.  I am a youthful 61.  I am 61 years young.  Think young and you will stay young.

Whether you are fifty, sixty, seventy or eighty you are as old as you feel and believe yourself to be.  Do not forget that truth and you will always feel energetic and young.
