Faith Will Get You There
Even though I know we have heard this over and again it is worth looking at more closely. Faith is an element of your life that sits there in your spirit until you access it. Faith is for everyone and not one person will have to pay for it. It is free and not only is Faith free it is the one thing in your life that will heal you and lift you up as high as you need to go. Faith is the reason that people like me who have struggled through a number of challenges got through it and continues to get through it.
In the Believe series Oprah presented a family whose son became paralyzed as a teen from an accident. The family who happened to be Catholic and Hispanic went on a trip to a place in Mexico where their son would have an experience of healing and where many believe healing takes place. With tears in her eyes his mother and father took him but nothing happened. Instead of being like others who have so little faith, his mother rejoiced in the experience she provided for her son and kept the faith that one day he would be healed. That my beloveds is faith.
I have a lovely friend whose son died at a very young age. Instead of making that her only identity and reliving it day after day she talks about him as if he were still alive. She shares positive things about her son and never has detailed how he died. Rather than to relive it all she remains faithful to him and to the life they had together when he was on this earth. She fills my heart with Faith because of her own ability to believe that her son is not just the boy who died but that he was the spirit who lived. The part that truly brings me light is when she talks about my daughters and details how beautiful they are. This is Faith and this is a woman who sees the world and the pain in a way that she can continue to honor him and honor her own life.
My great grandmother prayed every night. She also lit candles and would bring out pictures of people who had died before her including her beautiful former husband. She had very long hair that she braided and would sit and wait for me to get home from school every single day. When she died I remember the first time I was on my way home and she was not in sight as I reached my house. I wanted to cry but the thought of how much Faith she had brought me to a place of peace. I knew that her faith was so strong that wherever she went she was in a better place than me. I became more faithful that day.
My grandfather who I considered my dad took me and my siblings and mom in after my dad abandoned all of us never to be seen again. He was a man who worked in a steel mill in a dangerously hot environment that I believe killed him. Yet for him this job of his was everything he ever dreamed of and with Faith in his heart he provided us with a six bedroom home with two apple trees in the yard. He almost always had another job he was doing in the house. He made the garage brick by brick and never complained. When I would sit next to him he would hug me and hold me. Today I understand that no matter what life gave him he remained faithful to his family and loved a woman who loved him back. I could only hope to be that joyous and work a job where I am sure he likely was poisoned. When we have faith nothing gets in the way of our joy.
You have a story about Faith. Somewhere in your life you have an example of faith. You know what Faith is and you know how to be faithful and faith based. Nothing gets to you when you are in a place of faith and nothing can go wrong that cannot be fixed or accepted. Faith will heal us and Faith will take us everywhere we need to be.
