How To Start Anew
We are only nine days into the new year and already I feel a sense of urgency and of intent. I have started to write a plan of action and one of the aspects of the plan is to act immediately on things that matter whether it involves business, physical health or spirituality. Like many of you out there I am bent on this year being a year that is better: more joyful, more productive and more adventurous than the last. Now for me there is the question: What will make this year different from the last one?:
1. Write a plan and stick to it:
Writing a plan of action that includes the important aspects of your life: physical, spiritual, emotional, financial and creative, will help guide you in the direction you feel you would like to go in, one that is more fruitful and abundant than before.
2. Address any addictions or behaviors that held you back in the past:
Whether it is addiction to alcohol or television addressing your addictions will free you up to do exactly what you are meant to do. Any behavior that is holding you back must be subtracted from your life and addressing it may take a program, counseling or coaching. By addressing your addictions and understanding that by doing so you are clearing your energy so that you can begin anew.
3. Make amends with people who matter:
Starting the new year by making amends with the people in your life who matter is a great way to start the new year. It may mean that you apologize to a brother or friend or this may mean that you send a sentimental card to a loved one. If there are any people in your life who you need to talk to and get feelings resolved then this is the time to do it. When we make amends with others we clear our energy because holding anger for others poisons us.
4. Take an inventory of your relationships:
Taking an inventory of your relationships means to look at your connections with others and determine whether they are healthy connections. If in your heart you feel like the relationship with some person is unhealthy make a compassionate decision to let go if you need to do this for our own good. When you let go of relationships it may not require any action but perhaps a discontinuation of communication with an individual.
5. Organize and de-clutter your life:
It is helpful for us to live in a situation that is organized when we are living in one that is cluttered or disorganized. Disorganization in our home and life causes us to feel confused and it is hard to start anew if you have a mess all around you that includes things that should be donated or disposed of. As we begin a new year it is beneficial to make our home a place where we can easily find things and where there is room for the new. De-cluttering our life is a symbol of what is to come and it is an action that makes room for the new.
These five actions in your life for the new year will help you to start the life you want and let go of some of the aspects of your life that don't serve you. Be patient with yourself because new actions and new habits take time. Above all be patient and loving with yourself.
