There Is NO US And THEM
"There is no us and them, there is only us". I love these words and they are surely the truth of who we are. WE are a collective human race. WE are all in this life and struggle together. There are less things that are different than the same in all of us, regardless of race, money, houses or any status or profession. Why we like to distinguish between the "haves and the have nots" is beyond my understanding in that the reality is that even if someone has more money that does not make them the haves. Time and time again I have proved this beyond any doubt. Children running in their underwear in Punta Cana in the Dominican Replublic smiling and laughing with such zest that care nothing of money or status. Then we have the rich kid in the United States who commits murder because they want to ensure they inheret their parents money. We can travel to Mexico where the children live on a small island or remote area like San Sebastián who play with a stick as if it were a sword or a broom and ride a horse with such expertise that he or she could teach us how to ride. There is no us and them. We are more alike than we know and the distinctions should only be about what we honor in ourselves and in others, culturally and spiritually. Nothing seperates us more than the thought that we are seperate. Let's stop thinking that way today.
One of the great leaders of our day is Oprah. She has been one of those people who have attempted to let us know that there is no us and them or her and us. She is one of the richest women in the world yet she has not given up on the work she does to help others become more enlightned and love each other more. It took one woman like her that has been sexually molested and struggled because of her color to give the world a chance to grow by introducing a spiritual and loving way of looking at life. There may be people out there that don't agree with her but the fact is that she has gifted the world without needing to do this. Oprah could have easily retired a long time ago and spent the rest of her life a rich and comfortable woman with a great life. She did not do this for good reason and that is that she still feels compelled to share her brand of love with us and present us with a huge amount of professionals and everyday people that ask us to grow. There is no her and us. There is no us and them. There is only us and us. We are family and we belong together and united in our stance, advocating for unity.
There is no them and us because we are in a world with many others. We may not like everyone but we might want to consider loving everyone and respecting others no matter what we think. When we are out there in the world and living life we will meet a lot of other people who we may consider better or not as good as we are. The reality is that you are not better than others and no one is better than you. We don't have to all hug and sing a song but we should honor others who share their song and their beliefs with us. We don't have to agree with someone to be supportive and compassionate. WE only need to remember that there is no us and them, there is only us and us. We can thank Martin Luther King, Oprah, Deepak Chopra, Marianne Willamson and others like them for becoming all we can be and accepting others as our brothers and sisters.
Please take some time to list the things that are the same about you as everyone around you including your family members, friends and co-workers. Look at that list and understand that the very faults you find in others are ones you will likely see in yourself and that their worth is the same as yours.
