How to Heal

Healing is a life long process and a daily ritual where we must do things that I call "life maintenance".  This happens when we are proactive by doing things on a daily basis, every day, that help us to get through the hard times, feel more joy and heal ourselves.  Our spirit is the deepest part of who we all are and at the core of where we are in need of healing.  Our spirit is inside our heart where we feel the deepest feelings in addition to that being our deepest part of who we are.  When we work on healing ourselves we also need to consider healing the world by serving and centering ourselves in the idea of world healing.  We must understand that we are all connected and that our healing in part has something to do with the healing of others around us.

We can heal our spirit by:

Understanding that we are all connected.  When we get that we are all connected we also understand that by helping others to heal we in turn heal  We are not an isolated entity in the world of many people and as we work on healing ourselves we can also add others to the list of those we help to heal.  We live in a world that is suffering from people who are unhealed and people who are in some form of pain.  When we ignore the fact that we are a part of something bigger we are in turn ignoring a part of who we are which is that we are a part of the world at large and that the energy of others does effect us and does matter.  We must face the truth and that is that we are part of every person we interact with, every neighbor and every breathing human person.  We cannot heal if we are in conflict with others and we cannot heal if we believe we are a completely separate entity in a world of many others who effect us.

Find your peace every day.  One of the best ways to heal ourselves is to find our peace every day by doing things that will bring that serenity and peace in our lives.  For some this means praying every day and for others it may be chanting or meditation.  Being still in some manner and holding reverence is how we heal our spirit when we are injured.  It is also how we continue to work on our healing on a daily basis so that we feel our optimum self.  Finding our peace can vary for each of us and for some it is exercise.  People who jog will say that they end up feeling euphoric when they run. It is a form of inner peace and what brings us peace bring us healing.  Even journaling helps us to find peace

Forgiveness is a crucial part of your healing.  We cannot heal when we have resentments and angers towards others.  In addition to forgiving others we need to forgive the past and our self.  It is likely more important to forgive your  past discretions and mistakes then to forgive others.  In either case forgivness of self and others is the key to healing and to living a life that is healthy and whole.  When there is someone or a situation we are holding a grudge about we can begin to heal by forgiving  Nothing in our life can be more urgent than to make inner statements of forgiveness towards others.  We don't neccessarily have to apologize but rather do the forgiveness exercise within ourselves and in a genuine and honest manner.  Praying or sending good energy to the people we were hurt by and are holding anger towards is a sure route to self-love and self-compassion.

There you have it.  How to heal thyself and some basic ways to take that journey.  Never mind how hard it is to take this path but rather embrace the fact that your healing is meaningful and a life long journey.  If you take the time to take this life trip it means that you love yourself enough to want to live a happier and fuller life.
