We Are From Butterflies
It is almost sad to me that humans are not born into their fullness like a butterfly who evolves from a dark shell. If you have not seen this happen I would encourage you to look for a video of this phenomenal birth. We are not too far from being born like a butterfly but mostly we have a lot in common in the way we should consider living our life and evolving along our way. Butterflies are beautiful creatures and each of us are just as beautiful.
A butterfly comes out of the darkness into the light. Like them we can also come out of the darkness (the hard times, the rough episodes) and manifest in the light. We can decide that there are not any obstacles that we cannot overcome for we are the things we have survived. For some of us it is sexual abuse while for others it has been a death of someone we dearly loved. Our stories are varied and the experiences could have been dark and difficult to the degree that we feel that our worth is associated with our losses. Yet the truth is that we are not our old stories of darkness and pain because we are alive. This means that we have another day and more importantly that we can and will come into the light. Like the butterfly we are born in darkness only to repeatedly come into the light.
A butterfly transforms from the most simple form to a spectacular species to behold. We too are spectacular and worthy of transforming into a thing of beauty. We have seen how people look better as they age and they experience one transformation to yet another, one that transcends the one before, the person we were. It is evidence that men and women have the ability to transform, changing their lives into what they dream of but only some of us are willing to do the work that it takes. Yet when we are willing to do the work we will go from the darkest experiences and come out of it happier, healthier and more whole.
A butterfly is delicate and so are we. We have feelings and we can be hurt, at times very easily. We must know that we are delicate people who have a need to be treated with soft words and a loving touch. Even though some of us look as though we have a hard exterior the outside does not tell the true story of who we really are. We are sensitive and we are sometimes fragile. As we experience life we should expose ourselves to the most loving and kind people and places, even living in safe places.
Like the butterfly we cannot be afraid to come out of our shell. We must be courageous and understand that life outside of our shells is a life that is filled with adventures. Fear can keep us from having a full life and we must be willing to let go of the fears in order to become all that we are. Unlike the butterfly we tend to want to stay inside our shell where we feel safe but this is not who we truly are. We are made to dance, sing and take chances in life. We are made to love and yet learn to lose. Life inside our shell may seem like a safe place to stay yet it is not the way we were intended to live when there are so many new people to connect with, make friends with and laugh with.
You are a butterfly my dear readers. You are a beautiful delicate butterfly deserving of love, kindness and respect. Each of us is a butterfly who in some ways are unique. Each of us is a butterfly who made it past the darkness and have the ability to fly.
