Never Give Up
In a particular group of Buddhist the saying "Never Give Up" is like a bit of a mantra. You can even buy a t-shirt that says it and I for one own a red one. It seems really simple yet what is important in our life is not just that we don't give up but that we become ruthless about living a life that is grand and honors every part of who we are. Never giving up means that we don't give up on the things that are important like: peace, love, creativity, health and our general well being. Not giving up means that we put everything we can into everything we do, even when that means we have to go back to it over and over again.
Life is a challenge and we must feel up to that challenge. We have to realize that life is not always an easy endeavor but rather that is it a day to day of self-loving acts. It may be that we need to take life one moment at a time and that the best thing to do is to live in the present. It is about interacting with others and your natural surroundings. It requires us to be mindful and to truly see the beauty that is around us: trees, clouds, flowers, people.
I may never stop talking about my health opportunity and what others refer to as illness or cancer. I know that from the beginning I had decided that I would not focus on it and the simple reason is that the more we think about something the more we get of that something in our life. I felt like this was not going to bring me down and now it has been almost two years on January 10 since my operation. I feel good and most of all each day is a new day for me. I feel blessed when I can focus on life and living. I feel even better when I do what is healthy and good for me. Today was one of those days when I got up and chanted and then went to exercise for forty minutes. I took care of Elliott and that is telling myself not to give up, ever.
We are often in a place where we are tested and it is important to understand that there will be many more tests. I often say that we will be tested and we can pass the test. We will be tested over and over again and all we need to know is that we are capable of passing. We have passed other tests in life and all that is required is that we continue to try as hard as we can to make that lemonade.
Never give up because when you do there is little left. Never give up because giving up should not be an option. Never give up because there will be another test and this is just one of many. Never give up because love will heal all that ails you. Never give up because we are made to spring up from any situation and have the skills to overcome many things in life. Never give up because when you give up it is the end.
