The Collazo Clan Christmas

Christmas holds a whole new meaning for me now more than ever.  Having survived the first bout of my health opportunity and leading to the next part I feel a sense of appreciation for family and all that Christmas really means.  Not like years before when people around me were giving each other lists of what they wanted others to buy them but rather a more spiritual and cultured Christmas with prayers and heart felt shared feelings in an exercise I call the "heart feelings" where each person picks a name and share with the other person love thoughts.  This Chirstmas the tears will flow more easily and more grace will prevail becausee it will be our people and my family is not just intense (Yes that is true) but way more passionate.  The music will be louder, the voices will be more boustrous and the talent will be shared withhout judgement.  It will be an awesome Christmas at the "Hampton Home" as we refer to it.  The Collazo's will be in full force and Camille's best potato salad will be served along side her mom's arroz con gandules and my sister in laws ham we all love so much. There will be a white branch tree with white lights and aqua and silver ornaments and my brother will play his quitar as we sing some carols.

This year Chirstmas is all about not giving gifts to adults we have all decided.  I am so elated at this decision and my intention is to take that money and donate it to the nearby homeless shelter in the form of food.  Then when it gets later in the night we will dance to salsa and house music and play a bit of charades.  We will eat until we are content then go out Christmas caroling down the street.  I of course wil be the one in the racoon fur and the wool chocolate hat keeping myself warm enough to endure the weather and to to  a few neighbors homes to sing to them.  If it is 45 degrees out that would be ideal.  I will hold that and other intentions.

I am so excited about having my family over and sharing in this most important celebration: The Birth of Christ.  To pay homage to the Source that made it possible for me to be here and for the beautiful birth of every person in my family, especially my daughters and grandchildren.  My heart is already beating faster and my spirit is ever so excited to experience the joy of Christmas in a way that Latino people do and in a way that the Collazo Clan loves to do it.  I am so happy that we will have this beautiful time together and that it will belong solely to us as a family that loves the beat of the music of artists like Juan Luus Guerra and Natalie Cole.  We are as diverse as we are individuals and each of us will bring sunshine and joy to this holiday season.  We will most of all celebrate the beginning of life and the birth of our Source.  We will honor the mother and the fatther spiriti and there will be tears of joy as we share our heartfelt feelings with each other.

Christmas Collazo style as we put it.  It's going to be special but most of all it's going to be fun.
