As I continue to research quotes that were attributed to Marilyn Monroe I am also finding comments that are negative about her. One such comment was written by a young girl saying: "women that quote Marilyn are usually using her as an excuse to be fat". Marilyn was a normal size 14. Another young man shared: I think Marilyn was just some whore who...". I had a difficult time digesting such comments even though I understand that some folks are going to perceive her as a "pill popping bitch" who was a whore". It still saddens me that without knowing her and knowing the plight of an actress in that era that one could be so hurtful and speak of her using words like whore. I was especially shocked that a woman was the one to say that Marilyn fans are women who are trying to have an excuse to be fat. The truth to me is that Marilyn was a great actress who knew that "Hollywood will pay you a million dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul".
There is no doubt that Marilyn suffered from addiction as many actors and people suffer from addictions. There is not doubt that a portion of her life was tragic and sad. This really is not something that I am focused on however it is understood. People will judge Marilyn in the same maner that they judge others who have the illness of addiction. We fear addiction and we seldom understand the addict. My blog is not about that but I did not want to ignore the fact that there are many people who will paint Marilyn Monroe as just a drug induced sexy whore. I disagree and want to say that I see her as a human being how left a legecy behind her that means something and that we can learn from.
In the days when Marilyn felt that hollywood would pay so much for a kiss and so little for a soul women were like property in hollywood and the first people who gave her the pills to pop were the men who all but owned her. To judge her is to miss the realy point about her life and loss. She should have taught us that life is worth more than that. It is worth more than getting a million to kiss a co-star and their sould was not given a second thought.
I go back to the woman who after seeing the movie Two Weeks with Marilyn stated: " I didn't know Marilyn was such a slut" to which I responded: "I think the Kennedy men were the sluts". I have surely digressed.
The fact is that if you can make a woman laugh it is a good thing and a good start to a relationhip. If you can make a woman laugh it breaks down the barriers. Laughter is key and woman love to laugh and are the first to say it when they are asked what kind of man they would like to meet. A man who can make me laugh is often times the answer. So hace a sense of humor and use it when you are romancing a woman. Share things that are light hearted and funny with her. What women know is that laughter is healing and that alone is a very good reason to use humor with love. It can only go up from there.
