When Harry Met Sally
The movie "When Mary Met Sally" is about two people who started out as friends and once they consumate the relationship realize it to be a mistake, but in the end as it turns out it's not a mistake and they end up with each other. I personally like happy endings. I am a real ham for a love story that has some bad times in it but then the people end up together and in love. It is that Cinderella story that is played out in different ways where the shoe or the person fits perfectly after all. Once the male character sees clearly that he loves her h runs to her. She is at a New Year's eve party and purposely starts to leave before midnight when he walks in. He blurts out "I love you". Then he recites the reasons he loves her like: "you're the last peron I want to talk to at night". She responds with: "You make it impossible for me to hate you" and then they kiss and it is all lovely and good. What started out as friendship ends in a deep loving connection.
This movie is classic. It is a cult classic. Everyone loves it and few have not seen it at least two times. I have seen it several times and each time it is exciting. To see that kind of genuine like and then love is amaziing to me. It is what love stories are about and I cannot help but believe that there are many more to come. There will be love stories that at the very least I will witness and be gloriously jealous and happy about. In fact I am invited by a friend to attend a wedding. I will dress in my very best and likely wear the new bow tie I have been anxiosu to wear. I will once again witness the bliss of people who feel like they love each other so much as to celebrate it publicly.
Love is a glorious thing. I want to believe that always even if there were times when it hurt and still hurts. Love is glorious no matter how it begins and ends. It is still an unusual fantasy in life. We fall in love or we fall into what looks like love and many times we fall out of love or at least some of us do. I never feel like I do but I do my best to disengage from it so that my heart and my soul can live through the loss of it. Some of us can walk out of love like we walk off a plank into a pool or a body of water. For some it is a bit easier than for others. For me it's never been easy.
Seeing this movie again reminded me that we can love again and that the pain subsides. That we can start with one type of love and end in another more profound kind of love. It inspires me because it tells me everything and anything is possible. As I ponder to go see a love story this evening that is showing at a local theater I give myself the room to grieve love and then invite it back in. Just like Harry and Sally.
