Taylor Swift has a song out called "shake it off" which by the way I consulted with my grandchild and she does not like. Of course I love it and fankly ever since that one rapper person got up when she received an award and sabotaged her spotlight I love her more. She did not react to this person who in my opinion was so rude to her and apparently felt that "Beyonce should have been up here". Since then he has done some additionsl "dumb shit". But I digress once again. The song like many of her songs are based on her life and the crap written in the tabloids. In the song she sings: I stay out too late and got nothing in my brain, that's what people say" and adds: "the players are gonna play play play and the haters are gonna hate hate hate hate. I go on too many dates and I can't make them stay, but I keep on cruisin and won't sotp moving moving, it's like I have this music in my mind saying it's gonna be alright, I'm just gonna shake, shake shake, shake it off".
This song is so sweet and clear about the message that for some people like my brother, would call it bubble gum music. I disagree because Taylor is a young artist who sings about things we all think about but don't verbalize, like shaking off the energy of folks who are either hateful or gossip about us or others. It is a song about not letting people get to you and every time I listen to it I become more and more centered to who I am and how what others think is just what they think, because the haters are gonna hate and the players are goin go play. She goes on to say "I never miss a beat, I'm light on my feet, that's what they don't see. It's like I have this music in my mind that everything's gonn be alright". These lyrics are so true for me today as I process the things that are going on in my life: my physical health, my mental health, the divorce and the uncertainties.
Now I have connected her song to the UE portable boom box and in this way I get the beat even better and the words speak to me clearer. I keep moving, I keep cruising and I keep going just like she says in the song. Haters are going to hate and players will play. Everyone will continue to be the same but we hace got to be able to "shake it off" and let it pass by us not allowing it to get to us. Taylor may be a young girl but she has been with a number of good lookig boys who apparently cannot handle her. People will say that you better not date her becausee then she will write a song about you! Hell yes I say to her. I say wrire the song and laugh all the way to the bank. Let that experience profit you materially and spiritually. Sing it and clear your voice and allow yourself to say what you need to say.
The next time someone or something seems to get to you just listne to her son on UTube and shake that shit off. There you go. I added the word shit to it.
