Only Die Once

Remembering John Kennedy Jr. and now knowing how reckless he was the day he and his loved ones died in a crash.  I did not know that a couple of days before their death he and his wife had a fight and he'd dtayed in a hotel.  This happened only a few days before they were due to attend a cousin's wedding and his sister in law arranged for them to leave the argument behind them and go to this wedding.  The plan was for them to fly at about 5:30 but because of his magazine and the fact that it was failing delayed him.  They ended up leaving at 8:30pm and the weather got bad, hence the crash landing shortly after they took off.  Even an offer for a co-pilot was refused by John when he had very limited in his ability to fly planes.  John, his wife and his sister in law ended up dying once.  I cannot imagine that any of the three would have thought he and his wife and her sister would be gone.

Carolyn disliked the media attention and their relationship was at times a bit volital.  She hated all the attention and she was not going to give up what she wanted to do and accomplish on her own.  She felt invaded upon and eventually John was having affairs but he did love his wife and wanted to save his marriage.  The day that they were leaving to Matha's vineyard was a day no one would have expected to end the way that it did but it did.  It shows us all that no one is immune to death and yes "we only die once".  Ironically John's mother had asked him to  promise not to pursue flying anymore.  She must have intuitively known that this was how he might die.

This and other situations remind us that we only live one time.  We should enjoy every moment knowing that we only live once.  Yeah, "we only live once" and yeah "we only die once".  This is what we must know that we only live one time and that perhaps we only die once, not taking into account the fact that some of us believe we live multiple lives.  I can only wish that to be true.
