Celebrating Martin Luther King
As I watch and old show that Oprah had where she interviewed the cast of "Roots" I recall the impact that one man had on the world. This impact that one man had on the world will forever be somewhere on some one's mind forever. It, I believe will never ever die. The things that MLK did were done fearlessly and with such courage that we should all be just a little of what he was to all of us and to the universe. I contend that he knew he was in danger every time he went out in public and every time he voiced the injustices towards Black Americans. He did not care whether he was in danger or not and it was not going to stop him from doing what he knew needed to be done and needed to be changed. Martin Luther King was a man with conviction, such conviction we all wish we had just a little of. Martin Luther King was a leader of all leaders. He was a man for all men and a person for all people. He was and is the reason that people of color are not being stopped from going where they like and drinking of the same water as everyone else, in spite of all our disbelief.
We cannot forget MLK and his contribution to our world and our lives. The most noticible impact he had was this idea that everyone in the world deserves what every one else deserves and that we are all a people of the people. We are all equal. We are all more aware and awake as a result of his work and his courage. We are all grateful to a man who sacrificed his life and time for all of us, especially those of us who have struggled with hate attached to how we look and the color of our skin, something we cannot change.
Today I celebrate a man who did for me what I could not do for myself. A man who gave his life for me and others like me. As I celebrate this day I know deep in my heart that he did what his soul asked him to do and what his heart asked of him. He was never afraid to come forward: standing up for all of us. May he be on our minds and in our hearts forever.
