Feel Your Feelings
I have an email saved from my sister when she was in New Orleans. At the time I was in a lot of pain and shared that with her. Her response to me was like a mix of musical notes and a poem. It was loving, kind and not judgemental but rather uplifting and affirming. I remember reading it and tears pouring from my eyes feeling so relieved that someone understood me. In spite of how low one can get in life having a sibling that loves you unconditionally is the most wonderful feeling. It heals the soul an lifts the spirit. Not everyone has that in their life and I feel fortunate to receive that kind of uncensored love.
I believe in feeling your feelings. I think that when we hold the feelings in we hold an energy of toxins that boil up and turn into a poison for our body, soul, mind and heart What I know today is that feeling my feelings is healing and pure. It is the only way to live my life and the only truth for all of us. We must be willing to feel our feelings and to express them and to wale in tears because we need to for any reason we deem it. No apologies and no limits.
Today I saw an old interview that Oprah did with a boy named Mattie. This interview took place when he was about 11 years old suffering from a very rare disease of MD. His siblings before him ad all died before they were four years of age. His illness led him to find an inner wisdom that was more like an adult Guru of sorts. He believed and he spoke in a positive manner refusing to see his glass half empty but rather half full. He did not feel sorry for himself and spent his time writing poems and songs one of which was themed: "When I die". As they dubbed his voice into a video presentation of him reciting this poem it touched me and I began to cry. I ended up like yesterday sobbing at the thought that here was a little boy who was facing death and talking about helping the people in purgatory move out of that place into heaven. I felt my feelings thanks to Mattie a little boy who died at the age of 13 and a child who when he presented himself would have the most beautiful smile on his face, loving life like we rarely see.
Now I choose to watch "Moon Struck" with Cher. For those of us who have not seen this movie it is about a young woman played by Cher that is going to be married to a man whose mother is dying. He has a favor to ask of his future wife to call his estranged brother to attend the wedding. As luck would have it Cher ends up falling in love with his brother who has a disabled hand with a hook at the end of it. The thing that makes the movie so beautiful is that Cher is transformed from a plain Jane to a gorgeous woman attending an Opera with her finances brother, this being his last request of her. But nothing could keep them apart and finally Cher must admit to her finance that she is in love with his brother. In this movie Cher is the woman many women would like to be. A fearless woman who realizes her joy is to do what she is feeling. She feels her feelings. She allows me to and you permission to have our feelings no matter what others might think of us. It takes courage to feel our feelings and to act on them when it is time.
Feel your feelings is what I say. Feel your feeling even if they require us to fall on our knees. Even if we have to kiss the ground in appreciation for the goddess energy that surrounds us and the love we have in our life. When we feel our feelings we honor who we are and we love the feelings till we heal. We embrace our pain and our sorrow, our joy and our greatness. We feel it all. We take it all in. We do it and we feel the feelings with courage and we never let others dictate what we should feel. Above all we are not embarrassed by our feelings and we don't take prisoners but we also don't hold ourselves hostage.
When a feeling comes up for you move into it, don't run away from it. When you feel your feelings you get past the pain because you are not lying to yourself or concealing them out of shame. When
