6 Places to Meet Someone
There are many places where we could meet someone for friendship or a relationship. Some of them will seem silly but my experience is that tere are times when we meet in the most unexpected places. Of course there is an argument that one can meet someone anywhere but in a world with so many people we must have a bit of a strategy in mind.
Here are some ways you could meet that person you have been wanting to meet:
1. Dating Sites Online:
There are too many dating sights online but if you do the research and ask the right questions like what the success rate is, you may end up finding a person you like or even fall in love with. Dating sites are as varied as there are groups of people and interests. Take your time and do the research looking at Yelp reviews and by googling the website. Dating sites don't always work but they are worth a try and give one he chance to meet others much like one stop shopping. There are dating sites for people over fifty, gay and transgender people, various ethnic groups and even people who are HIV positive. The best thing to do is to be patient and take your time knowing fully that it could take anywhere from six to twelve months to meet someone you relate to.
2. Interest Groups:
Join an group that is focused on an interest of yours whether it is Yoga or Meditation or a Book Club. There are many interest groups including ones like, "professionals over 30" and even ones that cater to cancer survivors. Interest groups attract single people who are interested in meetiing someone as a sidebar to participating in a group with like minded people doing something they enjoy. An interest group could be address just about any area or hobby. Take your time and select a group that you would like to learn more about.
3. Dog Parks:
Dog parks are a great way to meet others. There is a pool of single people who take their dogs to the dog park and who find it easier to approach another dog owner starting a conversation about their beloved pets. It can begin as simple as asking about the breed of another person's pet. Dogs make it a little easier to approach another person and there are a lot of single people who have pets because they felt lonely and wanted company, hence the pool of single people.
4. Sports Legues:
Here is a great way to meet someone by joining a sports team. If you are inclined to playing a sport join a local team that is coed or gay. In Chicago you can meet the nicest people at Center on Halsted where they have several volleyball teams from beginners to advanced.
5. Movies and dining out:
Take yourself out to dinner or a movie on occassion and you will find that there are others who are there that are single like you. Be prepared to smile and be friendly and in some restaurants there are bar stools where you can eat and have a drink too. In some places they serve food at the bar and you will again find people who are single and eating alone. Be willing to strike up a conversation. Don't be too shy about it and introduce yourself to the person sitting next to you. In fact even if you are not interested in them practice talking to people you don't know. Then when the right one comes along you will have practiced your approach.
6. Shopping:
I have met several people in a store. In a grocery store and in a clothing store you can meet really nice single folks. Ask someone their opinion on a shirt or sweater or dress. This can strike up a conversation and be an opening. Again, you cannot be shy. You have to be willing to open your mouth and speak.
